The GY6 style scooter engine, first introduced by Honda in the 1960s, has been widely used in the street legal scooter and atv industry. Honda no longer uses this style of engine in it's current lineup of scooters, but copies (clones) of the original Honda GY6 design are produced in China, Taiwan, and Korea. Virtually all full size scooters produced in China that currently dominate the market are equipped with the GY6 style scooter motor.
